DP's Bitte Orca was my hands-down, without a doubt, favorite album last year. My life is measurably better because "Temecula Sunrise" and "Useful Resource" exist. I'm a bit confused about the free virtual 7'' that they're giving away for free today. I was under the impression that they were being released as part of a Temecula Sunrise EP. But whatever.
"Ascending Melody" is loose, almost jazzy ray of sunshine. The other song, "Emblem of the World," is a bit more interesting. It's a claustrophobic piece of music that gets more tense with each monolithic drum roll. It feels a little embryonic, but Longstreth's fetuses are always smarter and more developed than most other artist's adult children.
